Sleep was a fleeting memory of days gone by, only reserved for those who had a clear conscious. These days sleep was the little catnap she was able to catch two hours before breakfast. Even if the cool oblivion called to her, she couldn’t follow. The were so many things weighing her down; she couldn’t, or wouldn’t, allow herself to forget about them, even if it would mean a remedial relaxation. Everyone had something they wanted so desperately to hide, a little splinter of the past they couldn’t help but agonize over.
Jaden Aimes once felt she was on top of the world. She had it all—a great mother, awesome friends—and she lost it all. No matter how hard she tried to cover it up, she was dying inside. That one little flame of her spirit continuously felt like an ember, thus making her feel like she had to shelter it, to cover it up. And, cover it up she did, with a mask of uncaring, full of deceit.
Fearful of awakening the other seventh-year girls, Jade had snuck upstairs after the nightmare, one hand fisted in the pocket of her black workout pants the other resting at her neck. Entering the common room, her shoulders began relaxing under the red spaghetti-strap top. The rain clearly pitter-pattered against the windows, offering her a sense of comfort. Odd, for all of her spirit, all the masks she hid behind, the little spark she felt had to be hidden in order to be protected, was reassured by the rain. She felt renewed, felt needed.
Jade sat down in an armchair, wrapping a green Slytherin snake patterned blanket around her shoulders. Her long, mussed, dark auburn hair was pulled up on either side of her head in pigtails, a few strands falling out here and there, framing her face. Letting her head fall on the back of the overstuffed seat, jade colored eyes closed as she thought about the few happenings of late.
The seventeen-year-old looked inquisitively over at the window, thinking of how she used to drink the night away. Truth be told, she hadn't had a drink since she met Rip, and that was six months ago. She thought of how her death was staged, how her mother was killed...how she lost her only surviving best friend. She gave a sarcastic smile to herself, raking her black klad nails across her colarbone.
"Yes, Jaden, you're so f**ked up now. You can't even sleep without the nightmares." she murmered to herself as a lightening flash caught her eyes and made them glow.
((I'm taking liberties! There are 'magical' windows in the dungeons! Kinda like the Great Hall Ceiling.))

Li Na crept out of her room, heading towards the slytherin common room. She had her baby, Jie Dae, cozily wrapped up in a blanket in her arms. She was sleeping and could almost sleep through anything. She walked into the dark halls, because she was sepreated from the others so that she could have her privacy and so her 2 month old daughter wouldn't wake anyone at night. She smiled as she saw the common room in the distance, quicking her pace as Jie Dae gave a soft sigh in her sleep which instantly melted Li Na's heart. She said the password watching the picture swing open.
"Pam I am here." she called out in a loud whisper looking around, not noticing Jade who was lying on the couch. "Pam?" she asked walking to the stair well and peering up. She sighed walking to the window and looking out. The rain softly hit the window, the clouds were heavy and gray. She decided to wait a little longer, wondering when Pam would show herself.

Pam woke up with a startle and looked at her watch. Ten minutes late! She was supposed to have been downstairs to meet Li ten minutes ago! Cursing under her breath, she slipped out of bed and tiptoed hurriedly out of her bedroom. Once she was out, she slowly made her way down the stairs and quietly walked over to Li Na. "Hey." she whispered. "Is that her?" she asked excitedly (but quietly).

"Hey." she said smiling as she proudly showed off her sleeping baby girl. "Yes it is her." she said as she showed her off some more. "Isn't she so beautiful." she said like a proud mommy.

"Absolutely beautiful. She looks just like you." Pam smiled down at the baby. "Hey..." she cooed softly. She took a quick look around to make sure no one was there. She had the strangest feeling that someone else was in the room. "I've got a crib set up upstairs. Even with magic, it took me an hour to figure out how to put that thing together." she whispered, her eyes still scanning the room.

She smiled, "Yeah but she has pretty blue eyes like her daddy, you know the father is really Draco, right?" she asked. "It is so great, McGonagal gave me my own room but I can still use this during the day and stuff. So the crib making was hard huh?" she asked smiling. "Thanks for doing that for me." she said smiling. "And thanks for offering to help too, I don't know what I would do without your help." she said.

"Draco?" she asked disbelievingly. Then she smiled slightly. "I know this might make you mad but... better him than Halen..." she laughed softly and said, "Ok well... we can move the crib to your room, would you say a simple locomotor charm should do it?" Pam frowned. "I swear, someone else is in here." she said quietly.

Jade chuckled to herself. Someone else was in here, alright. And she had gotten a view of Li Na's 'precious' child, as well as who the father was. Not Halen at all, huh? Well, what did she care? She wouldn't go back to him unless he had a good reason, and a long commitment to following her around. Whatever, she didn't need him.
And Rip. God only knew what she would be into if not for him and Draco. Ravaged had been a small smash six months ago, but then the band had split up. Slash went his own way, Rip stayed with her, and Tear got killed.
A loud burst of thunder brought her back to the present. "Well, well, well. What have we got here?" she bit out harshly. "Oh, a whore, her child, and Pam. Quaint. Getting tips now, Pam? On how to become a mother before graduating?"

Li Na cringed as she heard the voice, oh no she didn't need to turn around to see who it was. She could tell just by the bitchness in the girls voice. She gave a small smile as she heard the last comment, it didn't bother her at all. "Just jealous cause you are lonely huh." she said smiling. "Can't get anyone to love you? Well I can't blame anyone for running the opposite direction when they hear your voice, afterall you always were a homely girl." she said laughing.

Jade grinned, it was all fun and games to her. Nothing could hurt her anymore. She wouldn't let it. "I would rather be lonely than to have a snivelling brat to carry around." Her grin faded a little at the love comment.
"What's love good for except to stab you in the back through to you heart?" she asked softly, glaring back out of the window. "I'm 'homely' now am I? Well, rather that than foreign. At least I look like I belong." Jade got no real satisifaction through her words. She just had a self-protection mechanism to lash out against anyone that could possibly hurt her, or that HAD hurt her.

She smiled as she turned around. "Well lets see, there is one white person and three of another race, who doesn't belong?" she said with a grin. "I mean it looks to me like you don't belong and of course that is right because we don't want any phycotic bitches around. That just makes the air bad." she said.

Pam spoke up suddenly, completely out of character. "Your baby doesn't need to hear that language, Li. If you want to argue with Jade, fine, go ahead. But leave your baby far away from all of this." She ignored Jade's comment on race. She could see it was hollow.

"No, that would be two and a half of another race. And that's right. I'm white, white, white. Caucasian." Jade raked her nails along the arm of the chair, making small holes in it. "Rather psychotic than knocked up. At least I have an excuse. Tell me, I though you vowed that I'd never see your brat. It's in the open now. I know of some people that would be delighted to hear that Malfoy was the daddy. I mean...there are so many ways to reach the top of the chain. The easiest of which is to drag someone down, or dispose of them."
"And, I am a bitch. It's what I'm good at."
Jade mocked Pam, "That's right, Li Na. Jie Dae, whom I helped name know it or not, doesn't need to hear that language. I'm perfectly fine continuing this conversation, but get rid of the brat." Her voice was ragged, and haggard. Proof that she was sick of all of it.

Pam sighed. "Jade, stop it for one second. Jie Dae hasn't even had a chance to reach a year of age and already you're calling her names." she was exasperated. "I can take her upstairs, Li. Just try not to kill each other while I'm gone.... don't worry, the crib might have taken me forever but it's safe."

Li Na looked at her angrily. "You may have f**ked up your own life but there is no reason to come and do that to mine. I am proud to say that I am that little girls mother, everyday I wake up and am thankful for her. So I will not let you sit there and call her a brat, you have a problem with me not her so leave her out of this." she said shaking. "And as for Draco, if you do anything to turn him in, I will personally see that you are killed." she said seriously glaring at her. "Or have you forgotten that I also have connections, my father is a DE too, you know." she said grinning.
